BRAINY BOOT CAMP
SUMMER 2020
6 weeks
weeks of July 6 - Aug 17

What Is Brainy Boot Camp?
Is your child entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, First or Second grade? Are they ready for the upcoming school year? Brainy Boot Camp is a small group remote learning experience on Zoom with highly trained and certified Language & Literacy Interventionists and Educators. Children will strengthen their pre-literacy, phonics, language and math skills through engaging activities that lay the foundation for early elementary school success. Whether an individual or small group session, each child will build his or her phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics knowledge, learn language concepts, increase early number sense and rational counting. Children will also have the opportunity to socialize and improve their ability to attend to an activity for an extended period of time.
How Many Children Are In A Small Group?
Each child will be placed in a group based on age. There will be no more than 4 children per group to ensure your child receives the most attentive instruction and feedback.
Tell Me About A Math Class
Young mathematicians will work on foundational skills like sorting objects, matching items/numbers or ordering numbers. Children will also gain understanding of comparing numbers and patterning. Classes will begin with an age appropriate ‘math warm up’ and then focus on verbal counting, one-to-one correspondence and writing and drawing quantities through interactive math games. This class is perfect for children who are still learning their numbers and counting as well those who are ready to build a stronger number sense.
Tell Me About A Language & Literacy Class
Language & Literacy class will strengthen listening, speaking and phonological awareness skills, which are prerequisites for learning to read and write. Class will begin with a “language warm-up” where children will build vocabulary, inferencing, grammar and syntax skills through various interactive and engaging activities. Depending on age, the lesson will then focus on phonics (letters + sounds) and/or phonological and phonemic awareness tasks such as rhyming, counting syllables and identifying individual sounds in words. Research shows that children with these strong language skills learn to read more easily. This class is perfect for children who are about to read, those who have just started, and those who are already reading but will benefit from more practice.
